Morrison County High Tech Workforce Development Center
The High Tech Workforce Development Center exists to: * Create opportunities for students to develop knowledge and skills in high demand areas * Capitalize on the expertise available in the partner districts * Collaborate with students and teachers from other districts * Allow students to earn an English credit in an elective course The Morrison County High Tech Workforce Development Center is a collaborative effort of the school districts within Morrison County (Swanville and Little Falls). Each district is offering a semester class open to students from any of the partnering districts in order to create more opportunities for student learning. These courses are focused on high demand areas. In addition to the elective credit, students will earn a semester English credit for each course. The courses will be 90 minutes in length, with time allowed for provided transportation to and from the student’s home district. INTRO TO GRAPHIC DESIGN See Mrs. Grant | Course Credit: 3 | Grade Level: 11 - 12 Swanville course - Spring semester
Graphic Design is a way of communicating ideas through the use of imagery, typography, and page layout. Students will develop an understanding of design concepts and the practical application of Adobe Photoshop CC and Adobe Illustrator. Students will start by examining the elements and principles of design and then apply that knowledge in their computer generated designs. Students will also learn the basics behind typography and illustration, and with this knowledge learn how to create successful designs. Finally, students will be given an overview in web design and learn how to design a website using WordPress.
GENERAL AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE (G.A.S.) See Mrs. Grant | Course Credit: 3 | Grade Level: 11 - 12 Little Falls course - Fall semester
G.A.S. will focus on the fundamentals of Careers, Shop Safety, Tools and Equipment, Service Information, and Maintenance. Several systems in the automobile that will be addressed will include Electrical, Starting, Charging, Ignition/Tune Up, Computer/Engine Management, Fuel Systems, Exhaust, Cooling, Suspension & Steering, Braking, Drive Train, and Engine Repair. G.A.S. will give the student a good foundation in the maintenance and repair of cars and light trucks which will benefit those students who wish to pursue an entry level employment, or continue their education at a post secondary program. This class will spend equal amounts of time studying the different content along with opportunities to practice their knowledge on their own vehicles or the schools vehicles. Required items will include: Safety glasses, clothing acceptable for working in the shop, drivers license, proof of car insurance, and a solid work ethic.
